Coming to an end of semester 1 2017/2018, the Mid Year Meeting of the dental society (DENSOC) was held on 20th December 2017, at the 11th floor auditorium in the Postgraduate Building, from 5.30 pm to 7.00pm.
The meeting started with a warm greeting from our DENSOC president, Teoh Yeong Chee. He welcomed and thanked everyone for attending the meeting. He, then, introduced each and every DENSOC committee members to all, especially to the first year students. Later, each director for all the past activities of the DENSOC events went on stage and presented briefly about their events .talked about IDPQ, talked about SFS Night, and talked about joint orientation. All the events was a success. Next, future DENSOC activities were also presented in order to give everyone a rough idea what events will be held and to encourage everyone's involvement . Clap run, FDMP, Annual Dental Night and interbatch were presented respectively.
Lou Sin Wei, then explained about the outbound programme. The main purpose of the programme is to enrich students with valuable exposure and to foster good relations with our colleagues in neighbouring countries. One of the event to look forward is the trip to Thailand, Chiang Mai University which will be held on the 19 Dec till 27Dec.
Later, our merit system officers, talked about the importance of the merit systems and how to calculate them as well. A very detailed and amazing presentation was given by them. The benefits are that dental students with higher merit marks will be chosen for the exchange programme, where only a few students will be offered the chance. Many of our dental students, were very motivated to gain higher merit marks, few of them were jotting down all the future events which would be held. Hopefully their spirit remains.
Finally, the meeting ended with Teoh Yeong Chee extending her gratitude and appreciation to everyone who helped in the past activities and hoping that more would lend their hand in the future activities to make it a success too. Packed dinner were then distributed to all.
