Interbatch Sports Carnival
22nd March 2014
Interbatch Sports Carnival was held from 7.45a.m. to 6.00p.m. on Saturday 22nd May at Gymnasium Second College, University Malaya. There were several objectives of this event, but the main one was to build and strengthen the bond among the dental students, be it with the juniors or the seniors.
There were around 120 participants who have involved themselves in different sports. Interbatch Sports Carnival consists of basketball, volleyball, badminton, futsal, netball and table tennis. Different sports competitions were held at different location. Our advisor, Profesor Madya Dr. Marina Binti Mohd Bakri, arrived at Gymnasium Second College at 8.00a.m. Open ceremony of Interbatch Sports Carnival ended with a short and simple speech by our Profesor Madya Dr. Marina Binti Mohd Bakri. Then, all the participants headed to the respective location to begin the competition at around 8.30a.m.
Basketball, volleyball and futsal started before netball and tennis to avoid the hot weather in the noon. These competitions came to an end with the finalized results at around 1.00p.m. All participants then assembled at Gymnasium Second College. Everyone had lunch and took a break to refresh themselves from 1.10p.m. to 2.00p.m. Table tennis and badminton started at around 2.30p.m. These matches came to an end with the finalized results at around 5.30p.m. At about 6.00p.m, closing ceremony was carried out. Awards were given to the winners of the respective competition. All participants left the gymnasium whereas the host and the AJKs of the carnival left ten minutes later to arrange and clean up the gymnasium. There were several improvements to be made from the participants' feedback, both via formal survey and from anecdotal conversations on that day. The major complain was the need to walk for a long distance to the venue of the competition. After the post-mortem has been carried out, AJKs of Interbatch Sports Carnival have came to an agreement to provide transportation for the participants to their respective competition venue.
