University of Malaya - National University of Singapore Interactive Games (MU-NUS) 2015
4th - 6th December 2015
MUNUS Interactive Games 2015 is an event that unites dental students from University of Malaya (MU) and National University of Singapore (NUS). Previously, University of Malaya was formed as Raffles College merged with King Edward VII College of Medicine for the higher education needs of Federation of Malaya and Singapore. In 1962, the Kuala Lumpur division was named University of Malaya and the Singapore division was named University of Singapore (eventually National University of Singapore). Therefore, this union has a historical significance too!
This is the second time MUNUS Interactive Games has been held and MU has the honour of hosting the event this year. It was held on the 4th till 6th December 2015. NUS students arrived on Friday night at Hotel 99 where they were greeted by the organizing committee and invited for supper at a nearby restaurant, Murni Restaurant. On Saturday, everybody gathered at Padang Varsiti first thing in the morning for Basketball, Futsal and Frisbee. We then adjourned to Balai Ungku Aziz for lunch. After some rest, we went to Pusat Sukan for Captain Ball and Dodgeball. MU won at Basketball and we tied at Futsal. NUS bagged the rest of the games. However, the scores didn’t matter, it was all in good fun.
Afterwards, we took the NUS students around the dental faculty to show them the polyclinics, laboratory, as well as the new clinics at the Postgraduate building. Proud to say that they were very impressed with our facilities. We then gathered at the Student Centre for the closing ceremony during which Caryn (Director of MUNUS) and Gavin (representative from NUS) gave speeches and exchanged gifts. We then had dinner and enjoyed the rest of the night mingling around. The next day, the NUS students explored KL City with a few UM dental students.
All in all, the event was a huge success as everyone gained at least a new friend. We hope that our successors will continue this tradition, making it a yearly event to ensure close relationship with our counterparts in NUS.
